| The Southern Arava Agricultural Research Station under the management of Yotvata member Amnon Greenberg, initiated the project with the Jordanian village of "Rachme", situated opposite the kibbutz across the Jordanian border and other Jordanian villages. | |
|
In February the first meeting to determine the framework for joint activities was held in Rachme. In May a group of 8 Jordanians arrived in Yotvata for a period of 3 months, some from Rachme, others from different areas of Jordan.

| 60 acres of Orchards were planted, dates, mangoes, lemons and a vineyard. Most of the bulbs, seeds and saplings were purchased in Israel along with the irrigation equipment. | |
| The first year was a success profesionally as well as building up mutual trust between the people involved. As a result, the Jordanians requested a broadening of horizons so the project included the villages of Um Matleh, Sa Adin and Wadi Mussa. | ![]() |
| The next group consisted of 12 Jordanians with the same plan as the first group, including the setting up of fields and orchards as well as cowsheds at the projects end. | |
| As an extension and continuation of the project, there are constant visits by the Jordanians with the goal of learning more about the agriculture in the Southern Arava, receiving short courses and instruction. The project coordinators from Israel also visit the fields and orchards, set up in Jordan, on a regular basis to encourage, advise and remain in contact. | ![]() |
