THE HORSES

The herd of about 45 horses, resides in stables situated within the date plantation and covering 75 acres. This branch of the kibbutz opened in 1980.

In addition there are 6 camels and a number of donkeys.

The branch has a number of goals:

Biological weed removal in the date plantation.

Biological removal of the fallen dates which could develop into a breeding ground for pests.

The development of the herd together with the specific breeding of purebred horses: Thoroughbred, Arabian, Quarter and local breeds.

The development of purebred camels (racing camels).

Horse riding for the members and children of the kibbutz.

Horse riding courses for the area and the area school.

Horse riding as specialist therapy.

The stables are the responsibility of kibbutz members and children, working together as a team. Our horses have won prizes in various competitions and races.
